How does Lotto RCT work?

Lotto RCT gives local good causes another way to raise regular income and connect with their supporters.

Players buy tickets through the Lotto RCT website and choose

the good cause they would like to support. A share of every ticket sold goes directly to the chosen good cause, with additional funding going into a Central Fund to support other good causes across RCT.

60% of every £1 ticket goes towards good causes:

  • 50p goes directly to the good cause selected by the player
  • 10p goes into a Central Fund to support other local good causes

The remaining amount covers prizes, operating costs and VAT.

The more supporters a good cause encourages to play, the more it can raise.

Lotto RCT is open to eligible charities, voluntary organisations, community groups, sports clubs, PTAs and other not-for-profit organisations operating in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

There is no limit on the number of good causes that can join.

Please note: good causes must be Interlink RCT members to take part in Lotto RCT.

If you’re unsure whether your organisation is already a member, contact Interlink RCT to check. If you’re not currently a member, you can apply to join.

Find out about Interlink membership.

Your Lotto RCT application cannot be approved until your Interlink membership has been confirmed, so organisations interested in taking part are encouraged to arrange their membership first.

Getting involved is designed to be simple, with minimal administration.

Good causes will have their own dedicated page on the Lotto RCT website, which they can share with supporters. Lotto RCT also provides promotional materials to help organisations spread the word, including professionally designed materials that can be used on social media, in emails or in the local community.

The key thing a good cause needs to do is tell its supporters about Lotto RCT and encourage them to choose the organisation when buying their tickets.

The more supporters who choose your good cause, the more money you can raise.

When applying to become a good cause, you’ll need to provide some basic information about your organisation, including:

  • Organisation name
  • Main contact name and role
  • Organisation address
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • Confirmation that your organisation is eligible
  • Bank details, so funds can be paid directly to your organisation

You’ll also be able to provide your organisation’s logo. This can be added when you sign up or provided later.

If you don’t have a suitable logo file, don’t worry – a default logo can be used initially and your details can be updated later.

Money raised for your good cause will be transferred directly into your organisation’s bank account each month.

You’ll also receive regular updates showing how your fundraising is going, including information about supporters, tickets sold and money raised.

A dashboard on the Lotto RCT website will also provide statistics about your fundraising.

Each good cause will have its own page on the Lotto RCT website. You can share this with your supporters so they can buy tickets and choose your organisation.

Lotto RCT also provides tailored promotional materials that can be shared on social media, included in emails or printed for use in the community.

There is no complicated administration involved – good causes can focus on promoting their page and encouraging supporters to take part.

Lotto RCT is a weekly lottery, with cash prizes of up to £25,000.

Winners are notified by email and winning numbers are published on the Lotto RCT website and social media following each draw.

Gift Aid cannot currently be claimed on lottery ticket purchases.

Lotto RCT takes care to protect user data. The website is secured across all pages and personal information is handled in accordance with the relevant data protection requirements.

For full information about how supporter information is collected and used, please see the privacy information on the Lotto RCT website.
