Updates from Age Connects Morgannwg:

We have got a HDS community support service that can provide short term respite for carers for up to 6 weeks on the hospital discharge service itself or the preventative element of this. It’s a great way to boost referrals and engage with people needing direct support.  This service is managed by Delyth Williams.

Helen Davies manages the Carer Coffee Morning every Friday at Cynon Linc 9.30-12.30  which is great way for carers to socialise and find support with others in the same situation. There are often activities to partake in or local speakers providing informative sessions.

My team now have a community information and advice service for filling in benefit forms or Blue Badge forms in the community or at home. Our Community Advisor is Bethan who can support carers by completing benefit forms at home or providing benefit checks. We have Fleur situated in the Cynon Linc if clients would like advice and form filling at the office.

We have an energy advice service which can provide help with fuel bills, damp, draughts and insulation as well as giving free white goods/ boiler replacements if eligible, this can help maximise income if a carer is struggling financially.

Updates from Cwm Taf Morgannwg Regional Partnership Board:

This Carers Week, from 10th–16th June, Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board are proud to recognise and celebrate the invaluable contribution unpaid carers make within our community and workplace. The theme for this year is “Putting Carers on the Map,” highlighting the essential role carers play across CTM and ensuring their voices are heard loud and clear.

At Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board, we are committed to supporting our staff and community carers through a series of activities and initiatives designed to raise awareness, provide support, and celebrate their dedication.

David Watkins, Carers Co-ordinator shared: “We invite all staff and community members to participate in Carers Week activities. By raising awareness and providing support, we can ensure that carers receive the recognition and assistance they deserve. Together, we can make this Carers Week a memorable and impactful one for all the carers in our community and put carers on the map.”
