Community Spotlight – Day 12/25: Taff’s Well and Nantgarw Community Hub

Taff’s Well and Nantgarw Community Hub was set up after the removal of a local library. They offer IT facilities, free space for groups, books, recycling material, and socialisation for the community.

Job seekers can use the free IT facilities to sign on and seek employment, and residents can get recycling bags and local information, such as community council minutes. The hub also helps to support and develop new community groups in the area.

Taff’s Well and Nantgarw Community Hub approached Interlink for support around a food share project, specifically where and how to start. Following discussions with our team, the Hub made use of Interlink’s ‘Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Programme‘ where peer mentor Richard Walters was identified and recruited to work with the group going forward.

The group felt the support provided was true to the request and helped them to increase their knowledge & confidence, supporting to ‘Rethink and formulate practicalities of setting up a food bank’.

You can find out more about Taff’s Well and Nantgarw Community Hub on their website.
