Mia Lewis – Role Play Lane #VolunteersWeek

As a Year 9 student, Mia volunteered for Role Play Lane, a not-for-profit children’s centre offering a huge variety of play, education and well-being sessions.

As a volunteer, Mia helped with fundraising, collecting raffle items and promoting the service at Role Play Lane.

Mia began volunteering to help build confidence and to gain skills for the future whilst helping others in the community.

After reaching out to Role Play Lane, Mia’s journey began as a roadshow volunteer, raising awareness of the centre and the activities held there.

Volunteering at Role Play Lane made a huge difference to Mia, who says “It has helped boost my work ethic, confidence and team working skills. I think overall, volunteering at a younger age has really helped me and given me an advantage for future work”

Role Play Lane is fortunate to also be supported by volunteers Susan Cook and Michael Cook.  Susan helps with fundraising, social media, and repairing the role play costumes and props, while Michael helps with DIY tasks such as fixing the children’s vehicles, fitting shelves and painting the walls.  Seeing the difference that it makes to both the Role Play Centre and to the lives of people in the community is the reason that they choose to volunteer.

“I have volunteered in year 9 in role play lane which is a not-for-profit role-playing centre designed for children which offer a huge variety of different education and well-being classes.  As a volunteer I have helped fundraise, collect raffle items and have helped with promotion for role play lane. I began volunteering to help with my own confidence and developing skills for the future but also to help out others in the community. I began volunteering by reaching out to role play lane and I started coming to the Trivallis roadshows to help promote the business along with activity’s for children. Me and my family have noticed a huge difference in my confidence and maturity since volunteering at Role Play Lane it has helped boost my work ethic ,confidence and team working skills I think overall volunteering at a younger age has really helped me and gives me an advantage for future work.”
