Volunteering

Volunteering is the lifeblood of communities and voluntary groups. It is estimated that a staggering 60% of RCT, around 140,000 people, volunteer whether in a group or by helping neighbours.

Volunteering is a way to:

  • get skills or experience for a dream job
  • give something back to the community
  • stay active after retirement
  • save the world, or at least Rhondda Cynon Taf

That could mean that you:

  • work with animals
  • get involved with youth work
  • have fun dancing, for instance if you become a gig buddy
  • use your sports skills
  • provide first aid
  • meet new people
  • plant a wood, for instance if you become involved with a tree planting project

Whatever you’re into and whoever you are, you can find the right opportunity through us. Here’s a useful information sheet if you’re considering volunteering but not sure where to start.

If you know someone who would like to volunteer and consents, please tell us, and provide contact details for them. We assist people from all backgrounds to find a volunteering opportunity to improve their wellbeing or employability. Also, we support people to volunteer through the University of South Wales and via their schools’ Welsh baccalaureate programme. Additionally, we help organisations including Job Centre Plus to find people volunteering opportunities as a pathway into work.
